Miles Chen
Min Chen, (aka Miles Chen) an Industrial designer whom was from an artistic family in Hangzhou, China. His grandfather, ZongZaoZhao - a famous artist in China has influenced and train Miles in Chinese calligraphy and traditional painting since young; inevitably finding himself fascinated by the traditional Chinese Art and Culture.
In 2001, Miles studied at Köln International School of Design(KISD) and thereafter obtained his B.Des (Bachelor of Design) in Design Academy Eindhoven. With some working experience in Amsterdam; he continued his Master of Design and graduated with distinction from Domus Academy in Milan. Thereafter, he stayed and worked in Domus; during which, he was commissioned on some freelance projects.
In 2010, Miles ventured back to China and put himself into the frontier of industrial design in Guangdong. In 2012, he teaches in the China Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing. Atelier Chen Min was sets up at the same time to put his practice into the Asian design industry.
Atelier Chen Min’s design products had been participated in various exhibitions and fairs around the world; earning some recognition in Europe and Asia. His various design & development projects have been produced and capitalized good market demand and valuation. Min has been invited to give lectures in universities across the country. His work “Min’s Chair“ was exhibited in the National Museum of China in Beijing in 2011. In addition, he is an active article writer for distinct design magazines on design & trend settings.
Miles recognizes design as a language, which has its origins, depth, and history.
· Design opens and evolves over the time. It expresses life in all aspects, and becomes the essence of it.
· Language, on the other hand, has a great variety in Aesthetic, Logic, Convention, Tradition, Culture, and Philosophy.
Miles’s goal is to integrate the Chinese language in the world of design.
